Accomodation
Housing Information
There are various options for how to find a flat/room in Prague. The easiest option is to look for a whole flat and share it with friends or other Caledonian/Nessie/Park Lane teachers.
Comission-free real estate website.
Popular expat website for the Czech Republic.
- With the help of an estate agent:
Caledonian School cooperates with the Happy House Rentals estate agency (www.happyhouserentals.com) – we provide them with clients (you), and they give a 50% discount from the commission to all the Caledonian people. Commission is usually one month’s rent. You can check for available flats on their webpages or directly contact Misa Dorfman via email dorfmanova@happyhouserentals.com. Do not forget to introduce yourself as a Caledonian employee!
If you do not find there what you look for, there are plenty of other estate agents in Prague; just check on Google "real estate Prague".
- Without an estate agent:
There are a couple of websites, but Czech is essential. (E.g. www.bezrealitky.cz)
- Room in a shared flat:
There are various webpages, but again, Czech is essential: www.espolubydleni.cz; www.chcispolubydliciho.cz; www.spolubydleni.cz
- There is always somebody at Caledonian School offering accommodation, or looking for flatmates. For this purpose we have recently launched the Electronic Housing Noticeboard, which you will find here.
To prevent commercial advertising on our webpages, you have to log on first. Write an email to housing@caledonianschool.com and I will send you the login details.
Locations:
There is a very good map server: www.mapy.cz – just insert the street or part of the city (e.g. Smíchov) you are looking for.
Prices:
Examples:
A shared, nicely equipped flat, 2 bedrooms in centre of Prague (Smichov, Vinohrady, Zizkov, Dejvice, Stare Mesto, Nove Mesto) : 220 - 600 EU/month per room.
A shared equipped flat in a large flat not in the city centre : 130-400 EU/month per room.
Studio/1 bedroom equipped flat : 350 - 600 EU, depending on the location and equipment of the flat.
Prices depend on location, quality of equipment and age of the flat and building. Public transport is generally very good, and all the Caledonian branches are reachable from almost any place in Prague within 45 minutes.
