Language courses

In co-operation with its sister school Tutor, Caledonian School offers professional tutoring in seven world languages.

Tutoring takes place in Prague, Brno, Hradec Králové and Pardubice.

Our courses can be characterised by placing the emphasis on communicative methods and development of all the language skills (listening, reading, writing, speaking), highly interactive instruction, practicing vocabulary, and much more.

Czech for foreigners

Our company also teaches Czech for foreigners. Our teachers have significant experience and despite the fact that Czech is one of the most difficult languages, our students experience fast progress in a very short time. We have courses at various levels so everyone can choose a suitable course. If you are not sure about your level, take our placement test and look at the content of the individual courses.

Language courses – types

One of our most popular courses is focused on general language. However, we also offer courses which place the aims on conversation, intensive courses, professional courses, courses for children and teenagers, and exam preparation courses.

Language levels

We offer several language levels for each language. You can find out your language level by taking our placement test. If you feel the level of the course does not correspond with your knowledge you can easily transfer to another course at a more appropriate level.

Placement tests

Caledonian School has developed a unique testing platform where you can check your language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) in a matter of minutes.

Post-secondary language study

Post-secondary courses are organised in cooperation with our sister school Tutor.

Post-secondary study has been designed primarily for students who want to continue their education after their graduation exams.

In this program it is possible to study four different languages – English, Spanish, German, and French; it is also possible to study a combination of two languages.

At the beginning of the school year, there are placement tests which help us to divide students into appropriate groups. In case a student feels the level of the course does not correspond with his/her knowledge, s/he will be transferred to a different course at a higher or lower level.

Tutoring in post-secondary study focuses on practicing the four language skills – listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Vocabulary is oriented into areas from everyday life. Tutoring is also based on the individual students’ needs. Apart from general language, instruction also focuses on cultural issues, geographical and historical topics, communication in companies and marketing, etc.

Post-secondary study in English can be completed with an international language exam.

Student status

Anyone interested in intensive studying can take part in post-secondary study. However, only those students who start studying in the same year in which they have taken their graduation exams are entitled to the status of student.

International language exams

Our language school has significant experience with organising preparation courses for international English exams.

In our courses, you can also prepare for more and more popular Computer Based Exams. We can also help you prepare for Legal English exams – ILEC, and Business English exams - BEC. We will gladly help you prepare for the TOEIC exams and IELTS certificate as well as the American equivalent of Cambridge exams – the TOEFL certificate, for those interested in studying and working abroad.

Language courses for children

In co-operation with a language school Tutor, Caledonian School also organizes special English courses for elementary school pupils.

These courses are organised in the following categories: for children in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade and for grades 6 – 9 where there are several language levels.
